This cover applies only to activities authorised or recognised by Skateboard GB.

As part of your membership to Skateboard GB you automatically receive the benefit of the association's Combined Liability insurance. Skateboarders, judges and coaches also receive Personal Accident benefits. The annual policies run from 01st December 2023 – 30th November 2024 (both days inclusive). The policies' limits are as follows:
Public liability insurance provides protection against legal liability for bodily injury to third parties and damage to third party property.
Products liability insurance provides protection against legal liability to pay compensation including legal costs for death or bodily injury, or damage to third party property arising from products supplied.
Cover to protect a Skateboard GB registered club or coach for claims made against them which allege that a third party has suffered an injury or financial loss caused by negligent acts, errors or omissions during coaching activities.

Protection for committee members and club officers against claims arising from their decision or actions whilst managing the organisation.
Cover for the community group if they become legally liable to pay damages, including costs and expenses for claims arising from Abuse.

Cover is in place for skateboarders, judges and coaches whilst skateboarding, practising, coaching and judging in the sport of Skateboarding, including travelling to and from any such activity. The main benefits provided are as follows:

Although the Liability cover is worldwide, the Skateboard GB policy does not negate the need for Travel Insurance, sports Travel Insurance can be purchased from Marsh Sport on 0345 872 5060
Yes, the Liability policy will defend claims made against you for negligence. Please note any claims relating to deliberate or criminal acts are excluded.

£250 excess against Third Party Property Damage and Bodily Injury claims.

The Liability Policy protects the group and its registered members for allegations of negligence should they injure other members or members of the public. If the spectators are injured as a result of your groups or its member's negligence they have the right to bring a liability claim against you. However, if a spectator injures themselves at an event and there is no negligence attaching to the group or its members there is no automatic payment to the spectator.

Yes. It is essential that you undertake risk assessments for the activities of your group to support you in your risk management. You and your group owe a duty of care to those around you. If an allegation for negligence is made against you or your group the risk assessments will be needed to evidence what you have reasonably been able to do to prevent an incident occurring.
If the group is unincorporated, the officer (and its members) could be liable for any and all financial losses incurred by the club. The Directors and Officers insurance is provided to support you for claims in this area for allegations which may come against the officer whilst undertaking their role. If the group is incorporated the directors may still find themselves personally liable and therefore Directors & Officers/ Trustees indemnity Insurance is essential. Please note this is a different type of cover to Professional Liability, which is a form of liability insurance which helps protect professional advice given by your club this is also known as errors and omissions cover.

Yes, a member can instruct, to their level of teaching/coaching qualification, and will be insured for public liability and professional indemnity sections of the liability insurance. However, Coach-led sessions must be undertaken by an appropriately qualified coach.
Yes, three taster sessions are permitted, on the third session the participant needs to become a member of the club to ensure they are covered under the insurance policies.
