Hiscox Risk Academy

Free risk management support for clubs and leagues

Eligible clubs and leagues that purchased the National Game Insurance Scheme liability insurance (Countycover Plus policy) can access the Hiscox Risk Academy (HRA) at no extra cost.

Provided by Hiscox, the liability insurers to the NGIS, the HRA is an online platform designed to help clubs and leagues manage risk with greater confidence. It gives officials, employees and volunteers access to practical tools, training and expert support to help keep organisations safer, more efficient and better organised throughout the season.

A portfolio of document templates, including health and safety policies, risk assessments and guidance documents.

The Hiscox Risk Academy (HRA) is a free online risk management platform that helps clubs and leagues strengthen day-to-day risk management, governance and record keeping.

Designed to support busy volunteers and club officials, it brings together training, templates, risk assessment tools and practical guidance in one place. Whether you are reviewing procedures ahead of the season, managing ongoing health and safety responsibilities or looking to improve internal processes, the HRA can help you save time and build better habits across your organisation.

Running a club or league involves more than organising fixtures and training sessions. There is also a responsibility to help provide a safe environment for players, volunteers, officials, spectators and the wider public.

The HRA can support clubs and leagues by helping them to:

  • manage risk more consistently
  • keep important records in one place
  • access practical health and safety guidance
  • support better governance and oversight
  • maintain documents that may help demonstrate the controls they have in place if an incident or claim arises

It is a practical resource for clubs and leagues that want to be better prepared, reduce administrative pressure, and strengthen their overall approach to risk management.

Records and reporting

Use the platform to support better record keeping, helping clubs maintain logs, training records and other key documentation more efficiently.

For many clubs and leagues, time and resource are limited. The HRA is designed to make risk management more manageable by bringing key tools and support together in one place.

This can help clubs and leagues:

  • replace or reduce reliance on outdated systems
  • improve efficiency for volunteers and administrators
  • keep training and compliance activity better organised
  • build a clearer audit trail
  • strengthen claims defensibility through improved documentation and record keeping

In short, it helps clubs spend less time chasing paperwork and more time focusing on running the game.
